About the Attorney
Jordan M. Zim built his practice at the intersection of technology and intellectual property law — sharpened by his time at Skadden Arps and a J.D. concentration in the Business of Innovation, Law, and Technology from the University of Miami. Authorized by the USPTO to handle trademark matters, he brings big-firm rigor to every client relationship, without the big-firm distance.
Before founding Zim Law, P.C., Mr. Zim worked as a legal assistant at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP — one of the world's leading law firms — across its New York City and Palo Alto offices, where he supported IP litigation, securities litigation, commercial litigation, real estate, and M&A matters at the highest level.
While at the University of Miami School of Law, he was authorized by the United States Patent & Trademark Office to appear in trademark matters — a credential earned through the School's Startup Practicum, where he advised local and national startup companies on entity formation, operational risk, and intellectual property strategy. His work included drafting and negotiating ownership agreements, investment documents (including SAFEs and KISSes), corporate bylaws, and successfully responding to USPTO Office Actions on clients' behalf.
His legal writing has been recognized beyond the classroom: as a member of the UM Business Law Review, he published a piece on artificial intelligence in the legal field and authored a note examining how non-compete agreements affect employment mobility in the technology sector. He also served as an extern with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York, and completed 183 hours of pro bono service during law school — well above the school's Pro Bono Challenge threshold.
Outside the office, Jordan is a devoted Florida Panthers fan — his office includes a small shrine to prove it — and spends his free time playing piano, gaming, and staying close with family.
